Southern Endoscopy Centre

Opened in 2010, Southern Endoscopy Centre is the largest state of the art private endoscopy facility in the South Island.  It is a joint venture with Southern Cross Healthcare and over 30 participating specialist endoscopists. 

Southern Endoscopy Centre is equipped with the very latest endoscopy equipment in three dedicated procedure rooms, each incorporating the latest technology including artificial intelligence for enhanced polyp detection.  The Centre offers a broad range of endoscopy services including general anaesthetic.

Southern Endoscopy Centre’s internationally trained Gastroenterologists and General Surgeons are expertly supported by a team of highly skilled and experienced endoscopy nurses, anaesthetic and reprocessing technicians, and administrative staff.

Quality & Patient Safety

Patient experience surveys have been shown to reduce risk and improve health outcomes. Every patient who receives treatment at Southern Endoscopy Centre is given the opportunity to complete an online feedback survey following their procedure.  Through this feedback, Southern Endoscopy Centre is able to monitor and review our service delivery, physical environment and staff performance. In addition, Southern Endoscopy Centre participates in the Southern Cross Safehub online incident reporting system, entering near misses and incidents to ensure we learn from these events to optimise patient safety and quality, and to drive innovation in practice.
